Hello!
Thank you for visiting my site and for your interest in Reiki.
I have been trained in and practice the traditional Usui system of Reiki. I am forever grateful to my teachers, Rani George and Sheryl Sturges, who have guided me through my Reiki studies with wisdom, grace and encouragement.
I was first drawn to Reiki in 2002 as I sought a means to help my young son with chronic, intractable stomach pain. I began practicing in 2002 after receiving my Level I training from teacher Sheryl Sturges, and found that Reiki did provide relief, not only for my son but for me too. I practiced Reiki for the next five years for myself and my family until the time felt right to take the next step. In 2007 I received my Level II certification from my current teacher Rani George, with whom I have studied since then. I become a Reiki Master Practitioner in June 2017 after 12 years of working with clients as a massage therapist and Reiki practitioner. I have recently closed my massage practice to focus more specifically on supporting clients through Reiki and mindfulness.
For me, the practice of Reiki has been an engaging, challenging, circuitous route marked by mystery, skepticism, joy, inquiry, study, experience, discomfort, acceptance, regular practice, and finally, surrender. I have always felt energy moving in and around me, and have always been aware of the energy of others and spaces. I am grateful to Reiki for giving me a vocabulary to talk about and understand these experiences, and for showing me a way to use my energetic receptivity to be of healing service to others.
In addition to my Reiki practice, I also serve as Executive Director of Peace of Mind Inc. Peace of Mind develops, writes and publishes elementary and middle school curricula and materials that integrate mindfulness, social and emotional learning, conflict resolution and social justice to help students calm themselves, build healthy relationships, solve conflicts peacefully and stand up to injustice. My work for Peace of Mind includes managing the editorial, publishing and administrative aspects of our nonprofit organization. While this may not seem related to Reiki practice at first glance, in fact I feel it all as part of the same fabric, and approach my work for Peace of Mind in accordance with the Reiki Principles every day.
With love and wishing you health, happiness and peacefulness,
Cheryl
